Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I/my child would like to register for the afterschool program. Where do we get the forms?

A: Registration forms are available at Nasson Community Center or your child’s school guidance office. If you have any questions about registration, please contact us at (207) 324-5657. Forms can also be printed off this web site, see the link above.

Q: How do I receive a bicycle?

A: By volunteering to repair a bicycle for someone else, spend 5 hours volunteering in the shop, or donating $10 to the Nasson Bike Center. This allows you to build a bike for yourself.

Q: Do you give away helmets?

A: Yes. We have a limited supply of basic model ProRider helmets (online at: www.prorider.com). We sometimes receive donations of helmets as well. If you require a helmet, please call us at 324-5657.

Q: I want to donate a bike. How do I do that?

A: Due to space limitations we are not accepting bike donations at this time. We will update this page when we are able to take more donations.

Q: How do I become a volunteer?

A: Call us at 324-5657 to set up a volunteer interview and fill out a volunteer application. Volunteer applications are available at Nasson Community Center or can be printed from the link above.

Q: How much time do I have to commit to volunteer?

A: That depends. If you wish to volunteer in our afterschool program mentoring youth, you may volunteer on a drop-in basis any time between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.,on a Friday afternoon, with no minimum commitment. However, if you wish to repair a bicycle to donate, this may require several sessions depending on the condition of the bicycle. The satisfaction of completing a bicycle is worth it!

Q: How do I make a tax-deductible donation to the program?

A: Please make a check out to Nasson Community Center and write “bikes” in the memo line. We will mail you a signed donation receipt in addition to our gratitude.
