Many thanks to the Biddeford Community Bicycle Center for donating forty brand new handlebar grips to our Nasson Community Bicycle Center. Many times our donated bicycles come with torn or missing handlebar grips. This can be dangerous in a fall, with the sharp edges of the ends of the handlebar digging into a child’s skin, cutting the skin or worse. The new grips mean we can send out safer bikes.
Mountain Biking this fall. We will be riding Wednesday afternoons this fall. Come join us for some great mountain biking. CR and George have been exploring the local trails this summer and have found some great ones. Don’t have a mountain bike? No problem, courtesy of Trips for Kids, we have them available.
The Nasson Community Bicycle Center’s first yard sale at the Nasson Community Center raised a little over $400 for the bike program. Many thanks to my wife Jeanne, and Deanna Farrel who donated a gym full of stuff and helped arrange and organize the event.
We hope to make it an annual event with help from parents and folks from the community.
The Nasson Community Bicycle Center will be holding a yard sale at the Nasson Community Center on Saturday 8-18 starting at 8:00am. Donations of clean usable items will be gladly accepted, and volunteers are requested for setup, selling and teardown. Please help keep our bike center going and growing!
Alex Stelline poses with his rebuilt Diamonback Joker BMX bike by attending the most hours at the Nasson Community Bike Center from January to the end of school this year. Congratulations Alex!
Well school is out for the year!! Hope everyone had a great year. Have no fear the Nasson Community Bicycle Center is open ALL summer long! We are looking forward to a packed shop with our open shop hours staying the same on TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS 2-5PM. Come over the the Nasson Community Center and find us cranking on some bikes in the basement. We are working on building bikes for Carl J. Lamb this summer as they take on an awesome project, through Ms. Spinney’s amazing idea to build our communities bike culture. If you are looking to Earn-A-Bike come and fix one up for the project or for someone in need and then pick a bike for yourself! Need help on your own bike? Perfect! Stop by with your bike and we will help you get it going again. You simply need to dedicate some service time to help the community and you earn yourself some parts! How awesome is that? Amazing I know and that’s just why we do it! Wondering what we are doing on WEDNESDAYS for the summer? We will be in the community doing mobile repair! Starting the week of the 25th we will be at Carpentier Park with our mobile workshop fixing bikes from Noon till 2pm. Head over to Nasson at 2:30 to gear up for a ride! Leaving Nasson by 3pm every WEDNESDAY for trail rides around Sanford/Springvale. Don’t have a bike to ride but you really want to ride?? We have plenty of loaners and helmets of course! Looking forward to an awesome summer!
We are thrilled that we have been able to put more bikes in the community! Just this week we had 4 bikes finished and ready to be given to someone that needs one! After sending an email out to our community…the response was amazing! Teachers, guidance and administrators responded with enthusiasm! Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers, our staff and to the kids that have been wrenching out bikes for Sanford!! Below is a note from a young girl who recently received a refurbished bicycle from The Nasson Community Bicycle Center.
“I was so glad with my bike and I loved it, Thank you so much! I was so thrilled and I was riding it for awhile until I had to go in. My grandpa fixed my mom’s bike so we can go bike riding” -A 5th grader
